Mustafa the Poet — inspiring community development through the spoken word

As part of the 2016 Business for the Arts gala at Canada’s National Ballet School, Willendorf had the opportunity to programme an original spoken word piece by Sundanese-Canadian poet, singer, and songwriter, Mustafa the Poet. Willendorf was proud to bring fresh and diverse perspectives to the prestigious gala, where Mustafa shared experiences growing up Regent Park in Toronto, a neighbourhood in the city more often known for its public housing, immigrant population, and issues with crime and drug use. It was important for Willendorf to include Mustafa in the programme, who has directly benefited from the arts programmes people in the audience and honourees support through their respective work.
